Club news

Slope rating 

Some of you may remember I was talking about the World Handicap System coming in at the end of this year. There will be charts for you to covert your handicap index (handicap) which will be based from the average of your best 8 scores, taken from your last 20 rounds. This chart will convert your handicap to a course handicap using the slope rating. More information will be available over the coming weeks.

Ganstead have a slope rating of 

  • White Tees - 124 (Men) course rating 72.6.
  • Yellow Tees - 120 (Men) course rating 71.1.
  • Red Tees - 125 (Ladies) course rating 72.7.

The course rating is

  • White Tees - (Men) course rating 72.6.
  • Yellow Tees - (Men) course rating 71.1.
  • Red Tees - (Ladies) course rating 72.7.

There's lots of problems getting some items through with all the issues this year but I have just had confirmation my first drop of Autum Under Armour is on its way. So all those on the lookout for some great new gear keep an eye out as I'm not sure how the top ups will go. 

Another great brand coming in this week is Sunderland. Waterproof jackets, quilted jackets, windtops and warm layers in some great colours. Remember to check my facebook page or twitter for updates.

 
Simulator news

Nearest the Pin

We are back on the simulator in a controlled enviroment. Royal Troon, the 14th hole playing 169 yards.

Theres a couple of well place bunkers to catch you out if you're slightly out. Remember - If you're not in it, you can't win it.

Bank Holiday Monday

Bank Holiday Monday was the re-arranged day for the GRAMA Trophy. After all the wind and rain over the weekend, Monday turned out to be the best day.

It was a limited field due to covid restrictions in the clubhouse but those lucky enough to get an early booking had a great day and I'm told the fish and chips went down well after the game.

The results were:

1st - D Ebeltoft / S Baker - 47pts

2nd - S Thompson / N Mortley - 47pts

3rd - M Clappison / M Clappison - 45pts

Pairing you with your perfect irons

We mentioned last week that you may want one or two hybrids to replace your longer irons because they’re more forgiving. This week, we’re putting irons under the microscope. Ask yourself: How do they slot into my full set of clubs?
