Golf on Tour

Popov and DJ in leagues of their own

There are sporting shocks, and then there’s the World No. 304 winning a Major! Germany’s Sophia Popov finished on -7 at Royal Troon to claim victory at the AIG Women’s Open. Despite having never won on the LPGA or Ladies European Tour before, the 27-year-old fought off challenges from stars like World No. 8 Minjee Lee and seven-time Major Champion Inbee Park.

Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour, Dustin Johnson won The Northern Trust, the first FedEx Cup playoff event, by shooting a staggering -30. That ended up being an 11-stroke victory, which raises the age-old question of what’s more entertaining:

Greenkeepers' news

On the course...

There will be some more work carried out on the greens next week. A pencil tarn followed by another light scarify and top dressing. This will help to set the greens up for the months ahead and build on the fantastic results that everyone has been enjoying.

The bunkers had been looked at earlier this year and a plan drawn up, but there's been a delay on the sand with problems relating to Covid and a high demand that cannot be met. So once the sand gets delivered, work will start on the bunkers.

For those who wondered the cutting heights at the moment are set to 12mm fairway, 25mm first cut (semi rough) 45-50mm rough.
